Kodak 1400 2000/XP drivers are fine with Windows 7 32 bit. don't like to remove posts though as it dis-joints the thread, so just disregard this

The only issue I have, which may be display driver related, is that I can't use the driver preview. I use win7 圆4 with both 32(PS cs2) and 64(LR) bit software, using the 64bit vista driver from Epsons webside. The other option is to use the Kodak printing software in XP mode and save the files in Win7 in a place where the XP mode machine can access.

I am probably wrong as I am sure it means you still need to install a driver in Win7 but I cannot test it. I believe, from a post I read on another forum, that you can run XP mode, install the printer there, and then access the printer in Win7 by sharing the printer in XP mode. Unfortunately I have not been able to test my intended solution as my printer and my main computer are in a container on a ship headed for my new home in Chile. I am in the same situation, Win7 圆4 and a Kodak 1400. I now have a small digital imaging and computer consulting business. I retired from Kodak over three years ago. Another alternative along the same lines is to use Microsoft's free Virtual XP (if you have Win7 Pro or Ultimate). It's one extra step (launching VirtualBox/XP), but it's still much faster than having to shutdown Vista or Win7 and reboot into a "real" WinXP to be able to print. I then fire up VirtualBox (don't have to leave my default OS) with XP, open the images in CS and print to my Kodak printers from CS in my virtual XP machine. I do all my editing in CS4, and save the files to my hard drive. I installed an old version of Photoshop (CS) in my virtual XP. After installing VirtualBox, I then installed WinXP as a "virtual machine" (similar to Windows 7's Virtual XP). I downloaded/installed Sun VirtualBox (free), which is virtualization software, similar to VMware Workstation. Here's what I did to get around the problem (no 64-bit drivers for the Kodak printers). But, I still want to be able to print to my Kodak printers (1400 and G600). Like you, I do my editing in my 64-bit OS (either Vista or Win7) to take full advantage of the available RAM (8GB). Jimmy, I've been running Vista 圆4 for over a year now. Might look at the virtual machine, would that be easier to print than rebooting to my XP system? Happy Holidays. You were still with Kodak weren't you? I know I traded messages back and forth when I was looking to buy this printer. This printer has worked great for me the last 4 years.

I really need it to print on the 64 bit side as my editing programs are now 64 bit, except the older versions on my XP. Guess there is no way to set it up on a Print Server on my network? Not sure how since I still would have to load the drivers on my 64 bit system.

But with the new camera's coming out with newer file structures, the older programs won't recognize them. I have to restart the computer and boot up XP so I can print. I set up a new hard drive to run the Windows 7, so I have a dual boot system.

But I still have my 32 bit xp on another drive running everything I was running. Unfortunately I am running the 64-bit version. The first person I thought about asking on this was you! And you answered. So, the driver can be installed under Windows 7 (only the 32-bit version). I told it to go ahead, and it fixed the USB printing support, and successfully installed the driver. I then went into the "Devices and Printers" section, where it asked me if I wanted to try repairing the 1400 driver installation. I tried installing the Kodak 1400 driver, but it said that the USB printing support failed to install. I just installed Win7 Ultimate x86 as a virtual machine (Sun VirtualBox).

Is there a secret on how to install them or am I out of luck if I go to Windows 7?
